Who Got Snubbed and Who Won Big at the Golden Globe Awards?
Here’s your full rundown, from Timothée Chalamet to Teyana Taylor.
To kick off awards season, the Golden Globe wins are in. The 83rd edition of the film and television honors took place in Los Angeles, and here’s what went down. Big productions were snubbed, some hot-topic celebs were side-stepped but a few favorites still won big.
Timothée Chalamet was among the main winners, as, after five nominations over previous years, he finally took home his Golden Globe. Winning Best Actor for his role in Marty Supreme, Chalamet gave another headline-grabbing shoutout in his speech to his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner. The role has so far awarded him every actor accolade there is going, so could this be a potential foreshadowing for the Oscar win that the actor has so avidly been chasing in his pursuit of greatness?
Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another starring Leonardo DiCaprio was unstoppable, winning the major movie category for Best Picture, musical or comedy. Anderson also took home the awards for Best Director and Best Screenplay, while Teyana Taylor was awarded Best Supporting Actress. The period drama Hamnet took home Best Motion Picture Drama, with Jessie Buckley winning Best Actress for her role as Shakespeare’s wife, Agnes.

Additionally, Adolescence won in multiple categories, including Best Limited Series. Owen Cooper took home best supporting actor, and both Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty won acting prizes for their roles on the show.
The biggest snub and backlash was for Sinners. Ryan Coogler’s thriller was praised by critics and audiences as a cultural landmark for the year, yet missed out on Best Screenplay to One Battle After Another. The movie did win two Globes, for cinematic and box office achievement and original score, but both supposedly don’t really count, as the second wasn’t even broadcast. But, as the Oscars and Baftas separate the categories into adapted and original screenplays, a corrective award could still come.
These wins may set the tone for the rest of the upcoming awards season, so keep an eye out for our future coverage.
