BEAMS and New Balance Unveil Their First-Ever Collaboration
Reconstructing NB icons for the “Made in the USA” collection.
BEAMS and New Balance are linking up for the first time, launching a “Made in the USA” collection that reimagines some of NB’s most iconic sneakers as clothing items. The Japanese brand translates New Balance’s aesthetic and craftmanship into modern streetwear, building a capsule of daily essentials. Staying true to the name of the collection, each item is manufactured in the United States and crafted from American cotton — a nod to the American-made sneaker silhouettes the collection was modeled after.
Drawing inspiration from New Balance’s 990 and 1300 sneakers, the collection arrives in shades of grey and blue, reflecting the original colorways of the both silhouettes. Repurposing the sneakers’ designs as hoodies, sweatpants and tees, the heavyweight cotton garments are made to pair perfectly with the shoes. Color-blocked sweatshirts and a T-shirt chronicling the history of the 990 sneaker make the collection a simple, intentional masterclass in sartorial storytelling.
