Arlo Parks and the Red Roses Celebrate Women's Rugby With a Spoken Word Film
Sending the World Cup winners off to their next tournament with a bang.
Award-winning artist Arlo Parks has teamed up with the England Women’s Rugby Team to collaborate on a spoken word film exploring unapologetic strength as the Red Roses get ready to compete once more. Coinciding with Parks’ new album release and the Red Roses’ 2026 Six Nations campaign, the collaboration couldn’t come at a better time for everyone involved.
The poem was written as part of a wider creative process, with Parks working alongside Red Roses players Sarah Bern, Marlie Packer, Abi Burton, May Campbell and Connie Powell to ideate the core themes of the piece. After hours of sharing ideas of identity, self-expression and strength, the spoken word piece was born.
Creating a story shaped by strong women from different industries and walks of life, the short film tells a tale of empowerment and unity, not just for the women’s rugby team, but for all women everywhere.
In a press release, Parks said, “The Red Roses are one of the most extraordinary teams in sport right now, and spending time with them, you understand why. This piece came out of a really honest conversation about what it means to be strong on your own terms. I hope people feel that when they watch it.”
In other news, Arsenal Women released a documentary featuring a grassroots girls football team they mentored.
