Arsenal Launches "Gunner Girls" Docuseries Featuring the Women's Team
Giving way to the next generation of women’s football stars.
Championing inclusion and community in women’s football, Arsenal has released a new docuseries titled Gunner Girls, following a new under-9s grassroots team taking their first steps into the sport with support from the women’s team. Featuring Arsenal Women players like Alessia Russo, Beth Mead, Leah Williamson and Lotte Wubben-Moy, the series documents the beginnings of the new North London girls’ team, from their choice of name to their first matches.
Some of the girls on the team had only been playing football for a few weeks at the start of filming, and their growth both on and off the pitch is evident throughout the series. Mentored by some of their idols, Gunner Girls is all about fostering the next generation of women’s football stars.
For many young girls in the United Kingdom, playing a sport isn’t always an option that is encouraged or supported. With the guidance of role models from the Arsenal Women squad, the “Gunner Girls” have an entirely new pathway open to them, made possible by the women that treaded that path before them.
The inspiring and heartwarming documentary is available to watch exclusively via Arsenal’s streaming platform, The Arsenal.
