Vaquera FW26 Said "Hold on Tightly, Let Go Lightly"
Confronting the tension between perfection and chaos.
Vaquera Fall/Winter 2026 was all about balance. The tension between perfection and chaos, because nothing is ever as it seems. Most of us are aware that you can be both unhinged and complete at the same time, you can occupy an identity of perfection whilst balancing your inner party girl. Well, in the name of Vaquera’s latest collection, “Hold on tightly, let go lightly.”
The runway brought this idea to life with models whose characters included distorted drab mods, twisted “ladies who lunch” and leather-clad suited tropes with provocative cut-outs. The show notes stated that “the most covetable clothes for your future are those that mirror our fractured present.” Vacquera is not afraid to acknowledge the state of our world and do it in the most confrontational manner.
The show felt like a reflection of current climates, where instability is rife, yet beauty still emerges and creativity becomes a refuge. The styling was antagonistic, with exaggerated silhouettes, clashing textures and modesty blended with provocation. The ideas of dressing were subverted and left us questioning conventions of exposure. This was a disruptive showcase in a fashion landscape where many are choosing to play it safe.
