How Marquise Is Matching Her Beauty Looks to Her Artistry
“I’ve always loved getting glam, but I didn’t always get the chance to experiment.”
You may recognize Marquise from Dream Academy, the show that united KATSEYE, but the Thai artist is carving out a space of her own after the release of her latest single “IRONIC.” Anchored by her signature Y2K smokey eye looks and flowing long hair, Marquise’s visual identity is a clear result of her love for experimenting with beauty. To her, visual cues are just as essential as the music itself — and it’s clear in how deliberate and meticulously curated her solo era is.
At only 20 years old, that same instinct is exactly what led Marquise to pursuing music in the first place. “There’s nothing I’d rather do in this life, no matter how hard it is. I grew up always loving [music] and wanted to take it seriously starting my teenage years,” she tells Hypebae. While training on a survival show isn’t exactly how most artists get their start, Marquise acknowledges that the experience allowed her to evolve into who she is now.
Beyond that, the bonds she formed on the show with her fellow trainees are still a major driving force in her solo career. “We truly want the best for each other and things did work out one way or another. Honestly, I felt like everyone deserves everything and more, [so] seeing everyone doing so well motivates me too,” she says. In this new chapter, Marquise is freeing herself of the endlessly restricting makeup looks of her trainee days in order to channel the beauty aesthetic she was always destined for.
When it comes to “IRONIC” in particular, Marquise says the visual details followed shortly after making the song itself. “I remember creating a Pinterest board for the song and I was seeing a lot of cool tones, black, chrome and grainy shots,” she says. As the artist continues to expand the world she’s building through her songs, outfits, glam and music videos that tie it all together, she’s discovered how much she enjoys the process, “[Starting a solo career] forced me to find out what my likes and dislikes are when it comes to visual appearance. I’m loving experimenting with new styles that make me feel even more me and match my artistry.”

Thanks to a plethora of experimental glam and new hair colors, Marquise has landed on a beauty aesthetic that feels authentically her, and having gotten her start so early on, it’s something that she’s finally free to play around with on her own terms. “To be completely honest with you, [being a trainee] kept me in a box. I started wearing makeup at a really early age to do castings and auditions but all of it was very clean makeup, very no makeup-makeup. I’ve always loved getting glam, but I didn’t always get the chance to experiment and find the looks that make me feel most confident, which is why being able to do that now is so much fun.”
From the K-beauty skincare staple she can’t get enough of to the eyeliner she uses to get her signature wing — ahead, Marquise reveals all of her beauty essentials.
Celimax Noni Ampoule Serum
“I actually came across this product on TikTok and was able to get my hands on it. I’ve only just started using her recently but I love it before makeup and before sleep. The ingredients are so calming and the texture is so lightweight, which is so suitable for the oily skin girlies like me.”
D’Alba Essence Sunscreen SPF 50
“My second round using this product because I just love how it sits under makeup. There’s many versions to this product but i love the waterfull one. It’s so extremely lightweight and there’s no white cast at all.”
L’Oréal Lumi Glotion
“I personally love the shade ‘Medium’ because it even outs my skin tone so naturally. She’s also very affordable. A small secret of mine is applying this product on my shoulders or collarbones for an extra body glow.”
Shiseido MicroLiner Ink
“I am so obsessed with this product and I’m positive I’ve gone through at least 20 of them. As a girlie who loves a cat eye liner and smokey wing, I’m always searching for a cream liner that doesn’t budge. I’ve put so many friends on to this product and they
approve.”
EADEM Le Chouchou Lip Balm
“Another TikTok find, a very new product for me that I’ve also just started using but fell in love with. It keeps my lips moisturized all day and night plus the colors are really cute. I personally love the shade ‘Sakura Shaved Ice.’ Definitely give this one a check out if you’re in need of a new lip balm.”
