Just in time for sweater weather, Acne Studios has unveiled the coziest range of hand-knit sweaters. The new knitwear range from the Swedish label’s Fall/Winter 2018 collection is an homage to Acne’s Nordic roots. As an exploration of both the craftsmanship and passion that are deeply entrenched within hand-knitting traditions in Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Finland, the limited edition sweaters highlight patchwork from four different motifs (one from each of the aforementioned countries). All of the designs are lovingly hand-knitted by an artisan from each country, with each unique pattern bringing to life a time-old tradition of coexistence with nature.
Within the program are a turtleneck sweater in vibrant blue, a crewneck sweater in cranberry and lastly, a crewneck constructed with an eclectic patchwork of traditional graphics. Each sweater is constructed from 1oo-percent wool and showcases a special woven label that combines the flags from all four countries.
You can see all of the sweaters in the gallery above, and can watch Acne Studios’ short documentary film below, which gives a spotlight to the captivating stories inspired by Nordic knitting traditions. Shot in northern Sweden, the film is a beautiful depiction of what it is like to grow up amongst the incomparable beauty of craftsmanship, nature, tradition and, of course, love – combining each of these elements, an inspiring tribute to handmade knitwear comes alive. You can shop the collection now in-store, as well as at acnestudios.com.
