Balmain's Olivier Rousteing Is Bringing Back Haute Couture
Inspired by the Parisian DNA.
Balmain‘s creative director since 2011, Olivier Rousteing has just revealed that he will be resurrecting the luxury fashion house’s Haute Couture line in 2019. The designer also told Vogue that the presentation of the collection will be different from his usual party-inspired extravaganzas, and focus more on creating an intimate setting with a smaller crowd that is a reference to Paris salon shows from the 60s and 70s. “I want to push the limits, of myself and the house, to bring couture back to Balmain again. I’m known for having a young crowd, whether it’s doing projects like Coachella, or campaigns with Rihanna. But couture can become part of the new generation too,” said Rousteing.
In addition to the new Couture line, a documentary about the 33-year-old designer is also getting his own documentary which is currently planned to release towards the end of 2019. We’ve seen Rousteing create one-off pieces for celebrities, like his dress for Jennifer Lopez at the 2018 Met Gala, and we’re excited to see the full couture range debut at the beginning of next year. Make sure to stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming show.
