Maison Margiela Gears up for an Apocalypse in Its Fall/Winter 2018 Collection
John Galliano at his peak.
It seems as if the fashion world is preparing for an inevitable apocalypse. Prada, Raf Simons and Calvin Klein all incorporated the post-apocalyptic aesthetic into their Fall/Winter 2018 collections, and the latest designer to draw inspiration from the phenomenon is John Galliano for Maison Margiela.
An ode to high-tech reflective and holographic textures, Galliano’s collection brought elevated silhouettes and unconventional designs down the Paris Fashion Week runway, capturing the iconic and experimental Margiela DNA perfectly. As for makeup, the beauty followed the collection’s color-blocking and emphasis on holographic materials, with makeup guru Pat McGrath completing the looks with a series of bold lips.
It comes as no surprise that the label also debuted a range of new sneakers – a chunky yet futuristic silhouette with sportswear influences, coming in colors like royal blue, chrome, red and white.
