'Crazy Rich Asians' Debuts Its First Trailer Starring Constance Wu & Awkwafina
Based on the 2013 novel by Kevin Kwan.
Crazy Rich Asians based on Kevin Kwan‘s 2013 novel starring Constance Wu debuts a full-length trailer ahead of its forthcoming release date. The Warner Bros. production is based on the main character, Rachel Chu’s trip to Singapore with longtime boyfriend, Nick Young, played by Henry Golding. Awkwafina stars as Rachel’s college best friend Peik Lin.
In the trailer Rachel is enveloped in a life of glamour she wasn’t prepared for. On the couple’s trip to a friend’s wedding in Singapore, Nick is revealed as the son of one of the wealthiest families in Asia. Throughout the clip, Nick’s mother is presented as a bourgeoise, unpleasant protagonist.
Awkwafina offers up a funny release from the glitzy, decadent life of Nick which Rachel appears to be uncomfortable in. In the middle of the video, after the two friends pull up to the Young family’s mansion, she blurts out, “Damn, Rachel, he’s like the Asian Bachelor!”
