Kris Van Assche Succeeds Haider Ackermann at Berluti
Following his exit from Dior Homme.
In the past few months we’ve seen huge changes in the fashion industry, from Phoebe Philo exiting Céline with Hedi Slimane as her successor, to Virgil Abloh replacing Kim Jones as Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Artistic Director. It was recently announced that Kim Jones would be taking on Dior Homme after Kris Van Assche, and now we know where Assche will be headed.
Having been at Dior for 11 years, Kris Van Assche will now take on the role of Artistic Director at menswear label Berluti, succeeding Haider Ackermann. The designer will oversee the luxury label’s ready-to-wear collections, accessories, shoes and leather goods, which will debut during Paris Men’s Fashion Week in January 2019.
Kris Van Assche commented on his new position, saying:
“I have always wanted to build bridges between the savoir-faire, the heritage of a house and my clear-cut contemporary vision.”
“Antoine Arnault spoke to me of his ambitions for Berluti and it is with great pleasure that I accept this new challenge, which fits perfectly with my own will and vision. I would also like to thank Bernard Arnault for his renewed confidence.”
As well as the chief executive of Berluti, Antoine Arnault, who said the following:
“I am delighted to welcome Kris Van Assche to Berluti.”
“I have known him for several years, have always admired his work at Dior Homme and I am looking forward to working with him.”
It remains to see what change this will have on Berluti’s unique aesthetic, as well as where Haider Ackermann will be residing. What are your thoughts on the new position?
