Haider Ackermann's Tom Ford Wants You to Show Some Skin
The SS27 collection was all about barely-there dressing, sharp tailoring and good old-fashioned sex appeal.
Tom Ford Spring/Summer 2027 by Haider Ackermann was pure sex. Heavy breathing soundtracked the show as models stalked the space in thongs, string tanks, sheer skirts and leather bra tops. Welcome back, Tom Ford.
Ackermann built the collection around a constant push and pull between power and submission, exposure and restraint. Pinstripe suits with razor-sharp lines appeared on both men and women, worn with open shirts and nothing underneath. Barely-there bodysuits took the idea even further, questioning just how naked you can get with one item of clothing.
And the daring dressing wasn’t reserved just for women. Men walked out in briefs paired with sweatshirts, cut-off hotpants with fishnet tanks and sharply tailored power suits worn against bare chests. Here, the absence of clothing felt just as deliberate as the clothes themselves.
That doesn’t mean Ackermann abandoned the sophistication synonymous with Tom Ford. Floor-skimming gowns and precise tailoring brought a familiar sense of glamor, while unexpected materials kept the collection feeling fresh. String vests that looked like soft cotton were actually crafted from leather, structured bra tops came in glossy satin and sheer fabrics transformed entire suits into something far more dynamic, and of course, revealing.
The show closed with swimwear featuring architectural cutouts and a male model in a thong, a cheeky nod to Tom Ford’s own history of featuring a cheek-baring moment. And, naturally, there were plenty of skyscraper stilettos. Some things never change.
