Sundae School x CHIMI Drop a Cheeky "Tiger Mom" Eyewear Collection
Celebrating the unwavering strength of moms everywhere.
For those who grew up in a second generation Asian-North American household, the term “Tiger Mom” is probably a familiar one. Putting a cheeky spin on the expression, Swedish label CHIMI and Seoul-based brand Sundae School now come together for a collaborative eyewear collection. Comprised of two different shapes, the new program reworks each silhouette in three different colors and patterns – one being a tiger print, of course.
Although the drop comes alive in a lightheartedly snarky lookbook (in various images, we see the “daughter” diligently studying from a GMAT textbook – a tableau that pokes fun at the stereotype that all tiger moms want their offspring to be either doctors, lawyers or accountants), the message behind the theme is a powerful one. Paying homage to their strong-willed, dedicated mothers, both brands aim to celebrate the unwavering tenacity and strength of moms everywhere.
“Growing up, my tiger mom did everything she could to give me the best possible future. She always pushed for higher education, and made sure I was trained to be an ‘honor roller.’ It wasn’t always pleasant, it wasn’t always easy. But at the end of the day, there’s nothing but gratitude for raising me to be a tiger,” says Dae Lim, founder of Sundae School.
The “Tiger Mom” collection drops today on American Mother’s Day, un-coincidentally. You can shop the range at select CHIMI and Sundae School stockists.
