CFDA/'Vogue' Fashion Fund's Top 10 Finalists Are Announced, Including Kerby Jean-Raymond
The Pyer Moss creative director has been on our radar for years.
Vogue and the Council of Fashion Designers of America have announced the top 10 finalists of the prestigious CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. The designers were chosen by a distinguished panel of judges including Anna Wintour, Steven Kolb, Diane von Furstenberg, Joseph Altuzarra and Eva Chen to name a few.
We’ve had our eye on one finalist in particular for quite some time — Kerby Jean-Raymond. The creative director of the menswear label Pyer Moss has been making waves in the industry for years since 2013. In his work, he tackles luxe minimalism in addition to providing bold wearable separates for everyday attire. Recently, Jean-Raymond has teamed up with Reebok on the DMX Fusion 1 Experiment sneaker in white which swiftly sold out upon its online debut. Last month, the futuristic model also sold out in all-black. Earlier this year he was nominated for the Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent on behalf of the 2018 CFDA Fashion Awards.
In an official statement, Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour shared her thoughts on the finalists:
“This year’s 10 finalists will more than ably follow in the footsteps of those who have gone before them. They’re not only talented, they’re engaged with a rapidly changing world, reflecting a whole new set of values and beliefs about what fashion can and should be.”
According to Vogue, over the next few months, judges will meet with each finalist separately in their studio to review their current collections. This meeting will be followed by the selection of a winner and two runners-up that will be named at a fashion show and gala on November 5. The winner will take home $400,000 USD, while each runner-up will be awarded $150,000 USD. Notably, the winners will also receive a year of mentorship by CFDA designers and fashion executives.
