KAWS Launches Its Ultra-Large 'KAWS:HOLIDAY' Sculpture in Taipei
Debuting at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.
Following up on KAWS unveiling teaser images of his ultra-large 36-meter-long Companion sculpture, the collaborative project with creative studio AllRightsReserved has officially debuted. The piece which is now in Taipei is the largest work by the artist. KAWS:HOLIDAY is a reimagination of the iconic Companion character, this time in a seated position. It overlooks Liberty Square and is placed in front of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.
The exhibit hosted its opening event Friday evening with Singaporean singer JJ Lin’s JFJ Productions. Alongside the launch, an exclusive merch release took place. Items included an array of vinyl figurines, ceramic plates, T-shirts and bags which are currently available at the exhibition’s pop-up shop.
Be sure to head to KAWS:HOLIDAY in person now through January 27, 2019. In the gallery above, check out the sculpture.
