Apple TV+, the tech giant’s much-anticipated streaming service, has officially launched. The service, priced at $4.99 USD a month, allows customers to curate and more easily access their preferred television content on one all-encompassing platform.
Using the Apple TV app, users can subscribe to and stream select premium cable channels, including HBO and Showtime, as well as buy and rent shows and movies through iTunes. Other streaming services such as Amazon Prime Video and Hulu are incorporated into the app, allowing subscribers to seamlessly switch between platforms within one screen. On-demand content from cable companies Spectrum, AT&T TV and Playstation Vue is also available.
Another major selling point is Apple Originals, a lineup of original movies and series available exclusively on Apple TV+. Noteworthy features include The Morning Show, a documentary-style look at the competitive business of morning news, Truth Be Told, an investigation into America’s obsession with true crime and Oprah‘s Book Club, a revival of Winfrey’s book discussion segment of the The Oprah Winfrey Show.
Apple TV Plus is available now for $4.99 USD/month and can be purchased on Apple’s website. Customers who purchase a new Apple device or Apple Music Student Plan receive one year of the streaming service for free.
