Instagram famous artist Sarah Bahbah has released an open edition of one of her most famous photographs, ‘Sex and Takeout – Pizza,’ to be sold throughout November. The new print, a smaller version of pre-existing limited editions, is priced at $300 USD, making it more affordable for fans who may not be able to purchase an original work.
With 500 prints sold since the campaign’s November 1 launch, Bahbah’s strategy to democratize art acquisition is clearly a success. “Art should not just be for the top one percent to store in a freeport where no one can enjoy it until some future museum exhibition,” Bahbah said in a statement. “Art should be accessible for everyone. I want to make sure I’m a part of that shift.”
Indeed, her viral captioned photographs — often featuring celebrity heartthrobs such as Noah Centineo and Dylan Sprouse — have found success in part thanks to the accessibility of social media. Bahbah, a self-represented artist, boasts 944K Instagram followers.
