Unhide Your Instagram Likes with This New Browser Extension

Instagram‘s recently announced decision to hide likes on accounts worldwide has been met with varying reactions — some have threatened to stop using the app while others — including Kim Kardashian — commended the change for its potential positive impact on mental health. A new Google Chrome extension, The Return of the Likes, allows displeased Instagram users to un-hide like counts through the web version of the app.
When logged into Instagram’s website, the extension overlays like and comment counts on the upper right hand corner of posts. Though the feature is not yet available for the mobile Instagram app, curious users can paste the permalink to a specific post into the extension. The Return of the Likes is the brainchild of Socialinsider, an established social media analytics company – TechCrunch notes that the extension works and is not a scam.
