A Closer Look at Dior x Nike's Limited-Edition Air Jordan 1 High OG
A solid cop.
Dior and Nike‘s Jordan Brand finally unveiled the limited-edition Air Jordan 1 High OG earlier this week during Dior Men’s Pre-Fall 2020 show in Miami. This marks the first-ever collaboration between the French luxury fashion house and the iconic sportswear brand. Dior Men’s Artistic Director Kim Jones said in a press release:
“I love mixing together different worlds, different ideas – Jordan Brand and Dior are both emblematic of absolute excellence in their fields. To bring them together in this special collaboration is to propose something exciting and truly new.”
Originally created for NBA star Michael Jordan in 1985, the luxe iteration of the classic silhouette was created in celebration of the AJ1’s 35th anniversary and Dior Men’s first show in the United States. The design features a combination of American and French culture, creating a brand new unified look. Jordan Brand’s Vice President of Design Martin Lotti said:
“Every collaboration we do starts from a genuine connection and desire to expand the dimensions of each brand through creativity and design innovation. Our partnership with Dior will offer a new look in basketball style and blend high-end streetwear with luxury fashion. We will pay homage to both brands’ rich iconography and draw inspiration from our heritage.”
Crafted from the finest calf leather, the pair includes an embossed Jumpman Wings logo which can be found on the upper along with the words “AIR DIOR.” The Swoosh has been filled out with the fashion house’s Oblique motif as well as “Miami” stitched on the insole of the shoe.
