Having already seen KARA‘s latest Spring 2019 collection, the NYC label now brings back a popular favorite: the Bike Wallet. First introduced earlier in January this year, the unique piece quickly sold out within four days. Now, the accessory makes a long-awaited return, along with a selection of new colorways – the Red is available now, while the Black will be available at the end of this coming week and lastly, the White is slated for an introduction in early June.
Inspired by Kryptonite bike locks that are commonly seen all throughout New York City, the wallet’s thick silver chain is reminiscent of those same locks that are often slung across cyclists’ bodies. Attached to the main leather wallet, the oversized chain can be worn either cross-body, or clipped onto a belt loop with the bike wallet in your pant pocket. The latter is, of course, aligned with KARA’s prominent theme this season of exploring how the line between a garment and a bag can be blurred. With the Bike Wallet, its functional purpose is clear, but the bag can be worn in so many different ways that the design can almost be seen as jewelry instead.
