UPDATE: An Official Look at Awake NY x ASICS GEL-KAYANO 5 360
Inspired by Paris and New York.
UPDATE: After providing a first look at its upcoming sneaker collaboration with ASICS, Awake NY reveals official imagery of the trainers. The reworked GEL-KAYANO® 5 360 silhouettes designed by Angelo Baque feature two distinct colorways: one with a reflective silver base and mint green, and another with gold and a blacked out sole. Baque was originally drawn to the Japanese brand due to its popularity amongst the African and Middle Eastern youth culture in Paris.
The first design created in silver and green is directly inspired by Baque’s childhood visits to Flushing Meadows Park in Corona Queens. At the center of the park sits the Unisphere, a large spherical stainless steel globe surrounded by a chorus of water fountains. The second colorway arriving in black and gold is inspired by the ethos of wandering Parisian nights where street lights cast a golden hue over the city.
The collection will make its debut on June 20 at The Next Door in Paris. Following this release, the Awake NY x ASICS collaboration will drop at an exclusive pop-up in New York on June 22 and via the Awake NY web store on June 25. Additionally, alongside the sneakers, the New York label will release a limited-edition 3M logo tee and hoodie.

Following up on the release of its Spring/Summer 2019 collection, Awake NY unveils an upcoming sneaker collaboration with Japanese sneaker company ASICS. The collaboration was teased via Awake NY founder Angelo Baque‘s personal Instagram page.
Two colorways of the GEL-KAYANO® 5 360 are spotted in the teaser shot. One features gold and black, while the second arrives in silver and green. Both designs are trimmed with light-reflecting 3M accents and contrasting panels separating the toebox and vamp portion. Tonal round laces lead up to the branded tongue while metallic hits of color appear on the lateral side with ASICS branding. Lastly, “AWAKE NY” is embroidered near the heel rounding out the two trainers.
There is no official release date for the Awake NY x ASICS collaboration.
