Balenciaga's Winter 2019 Campaign Will Make You Fall in Love
Grab someone to cozy up with.
While we’re still in the heat of summer, Balenciaga is already looking forward to cooler weather. The luxury brand just released a first look at its Winter 2019 collection in a campaign featuring real-life couples. Stamped with the Balenciaga logo in bold letters, the diverse lookbook features lovers of different sexualities and ethnicities set against the romantic backdrop of Paris.
Along with imagery captured by wedding photographer Greg Finck, the campaign is accompanied by a video created by Ed Fornieles. The footage is shot security camera-style, featuring the couples’ affectionate interactions in elevators, hallways, grocery stores and more. The passionate kisses and tender moments are narrated with a recorded voiceover by the couples speaking on what makes their partner special. Whether it’s a cliché, perfect scene or a small, hidden gesture, the video is equal parts eerie and sweet, all while showcasing the Winter 2019 collection in everyday situations. Watch the video below to see the campaign.
The new Balenciaga range consists of elevated outerwear, eveningwear and more, featuring long robes, power suits, dropped and ring-shaped necklines and dresses modeled after trench coats. Jackets and coats in the collection have hidden or no closures in order to be worn open or wrapped around. Exaggerated silhouettes include cocoon-shaped outerwear, duvet-inspired materials, extra cropped or extra long pants and a maxi shirt and skirt set. The brand doesn’t shy away from color for the winter and includes pops of bright pink, lime and cobalt blue throughout the pieces. A range of new bags is also featured, including phone-holder style purses, quilted pieces and clutches in muted colors.
