Apple Opens a New Store in Miami, Designed by Former Chief Designer Jony Ive
Inspired by the Miami lifestyle.
While the tech giant has confirmed the date for its next iPhone event, Apple just opened its new “Aventura” store located at Aventura Mall in north Miami. Former chief designer Jony Ive and design firm Foster + Partners worked together to bring this store to life.
With floor-to-ceiling windows, the space is filled with natural light, along with indoor trees for a balance between nature and manmade technological devices. An amphitheater with stadium seats and a large screen sits in the middle of the store for talks and events. The store is complemented with an “outdoor Genius Grove” courtyard inspired by the lifestyle of Miami. The overall design is accentuated with a wavy concrete roof with steel and concrete columns.
“The language and materiality at Apple Aventura Mall are inspired by Miami’s white Art Deco traditions and climate, making it an expression of its place and culture,” Foster + Partner’s head of studio Stefan Behling explained the story behind the design.
