Opening Ceremony x Skechers Drop Neutral-Toned Energy Sneakers
Monochromatic.
Skechers recently celebrated the 20-year anniversary of its chunky Energy sneaker with metallic and white colorways. Originally launched in 1999 with ’90s queen Britney Spears, the Skechers Energy is one of the brand’s most iconic silhouettes. To continue the celebration, the footwear brand has now partnered with Opening Ceremony on an exclusive collection.
The Energy sneaker features a stacked rubber outsole and semi-translucent upper. Wavy ridges run along the lateral with a row of reflective, monochrome Skechers “S” logos in the middle of the shoe. The heel and collar lining, as well as part of the tongue, have a satin finish, giving the shoe a soft, iridescent look. Skechers Sport patches are embroidered along the tongue and heel, and Opening Ceremony co-branding is stamped inside the sneaker’s insole.
Departing from Skechers’ usual bright and vibrant aesthetics, the Opening Ceremony x Skechers collection takes a minimalistic approach and has designed the shoes in chic, neutral tones. The “White” sneaker is monochromatic in cream with olive undertones and the “Black” is similar in completely black hues. The “Brown” features a black upper paired with chocolate brown heel and collar lining, tongue and laces as well as a muted brown sole.
The Opening Ceremony x Skechers Energy Sneakers can be purchased for $95 USD on Opening Ceremony’s website as well the retailer’s physical stores. For more Opening Ceremony collaborations, take a look at its workwear collection with Dickies and Timberland.
