Studio Ghibli Is Working on Two New Movies
Including co-founder Hayao Miyazaki’s final film.
The legendary Studio Ghibli kicked off 2020 with its annual New Year’s message, announcing that two new films are currently in production. The first is Hayao Miyazaki’s previously announced endeavor Kimi-tachi wa Dō Ikiru ka (How Do You Live?), to be the anime master’s final project.
Not much has been revealed about the second film, although it was reported back in January 2019 that Miyazaki’s son, Gorō, is working on a new film. Studio Ghibli’s message also states that progress on its much-anticipated theme park has begun “in earnest” and cites the symbolism of the Lunar New Year, this time celebrating the rat, an emblem of “prosperity because of their prolific production.”
Stay tuned as Studio Ghibli embarks on what is hopefully a headline year.
