Nike to Support Local NYC Organizations With $500,000 USD Donation
Bringing the brand’s COVID-19 response efforts to a total of more than $17.5 million USD.
Following the production of its full-face shields for medical workers, Nike has announced that it will be donating an additional $500,000 USD to help local organizations in New York City amid COVID-19. According to a press release, this brings the Swoosh brand’s “total commitment to COVID-19 response efforts to more than $17.5 million USD.”
The funds will go to platforms such as Food Bank for New York City and the COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund, which was created by the Mayor’s Fund of NYC. Additionally, the sportswear giant will also donate 250,000 three-ply disposable face masks to the state of New York.
To further aid those in need, the company will distribute its full-face shields and powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) lenses to health systems across Oregon, as well as health systems in greater Boston, Memphis and St. Louis. As of April 20, Nike has already shipped approximately 130,000 units combined with full-face shields and PAPR lenses.
