Following the announcement of YEEZY‘s 10-year partnership with Gap, Kanye West has partnered up with Nick Knight, Director of SHOWstudio, on a documentary highlighting the redesign of the YEEZY Supply website. “There’s been over 10,000 hours of work and at least twice that many images, considered and made, to give what I believe is a beautifully simple website,” said Knight in a press release.
The fashion photographer and filmmaker talks about the process of working with West on the creation of the online platform in the nine-minute film, “which began as one dictated by a ‘non-artistic approach’ characterized by a low-fi aesthetic partly inspired by highly functional medical supply shopping sites.” The new website will feature the brand’s items with 3D effects, while customers can watch a model move around on screen in an outfit of their choice to see how it fits.
“We were trying to make the Internet a more humane place. We’ve gotten used to the internet being a flat, two-dimensional place,” Knight told Fast Company. “But the Internet is also this amazing tool that connects everybody in the world: What if we could use it to get to know the people we are looking at on the screen?”
