New Balance and Joshua Vides Link for Sneakers and Apparel
In honor of the artist’s first pair of NBs.
Conceptual artist Joshua Vides and New Balance join forces on a limited-edition footwear and apparel collection.
Known for his cartoon-inspired, black and white aesthetic, the SoCal-born and first-generation Guatemalan artist has several covetable collaborations under his belt — Fendi, BMW, The Hundreds and Converse to name a few.
Joshua Vides x New Balance is more than just an extension of the artist’s signature sketch style. This collection also draws on his background with NB and process as an artist.
“The backbone of this collection is process; from my introduction to New Balance at an early age to my current day-to-day practice,” said Vides. “My first pair of New Balance sneakers were a hand-me-down from my pops. They were 574s and mad comfortable, so I would wear them out painting.” He added: “By the time I was done with them they were covered in mud and paint from my adventures at night as a graffiti artist, and since I’m known for black and white work, I wanted to mix both worlds onto each item in the collection.”
Vides’ New Balance 57/40 comes with an all-cream upper and black details, while the 327 flips the color scheme with a mostly black construction and hits of white. The theme continues into the apparel, with paint-inspired tees and hoodies.
Joshua Vides x New Balance is now available on Joshua Vides and Matte Black Coffee‘s websites. The capsule launches globally at New Balance on November 13. Prices are as follows: $130 USD for the 327, $150 USD for the 57/40, $85 USD for the hoodie, and $45 USD for the tee.
