Jada Pinkett Smith Embraces Her Hair Loss Struggles in the Best Way

“Me and this alopecia are going to be friends,” she says.

Jada Pinkett Smith is an open book when it comes to plenty of personal topics, including her challenges with hair loss due to alopecia. The actor took to Instagram to give fans an update about her latest hair struggle, which she’s choosing to stay positive about.

“Mama’s gonna have to take it down to the scalp so nobody thinks she got brain surgery or something,” Smith captioned an Instagram video that displayed a bald line on the top of her head. “Me and this alopecia are going to be friends … Period!”

“Now at this point, I can only laugh,” Smith said in the clip. “Y’all know I’ve been struggling with alopecia, and just all of a sudden one day, look at this line right here. Look at that. It just showed up like that, and this is going to be a little bit more difficult to hide, so I thought I’d just share it so y’all are not asking any questions.”

In July, the Red Table Talk host revealed she shaved her head after her daughter, Willow Smith, encouraged her. “Willow made me do it because it was time to let go BUT … My 50s are ’bout to be divinely lit with this shed,” she captioned an IG photo at the time.
