Louis Vuitton Presents Virgil Abloh's Final Pre-Fall 2022 Collection
“Completed and photographed” just before his death.
Louis Vuitton has unveiled one of Virgil Abloh‘s final collections for the house.
“Completed and photographed” before the designer’s death on November 28, the Pre-Fall 2022 range arrives just ahead of the Fall 2022 collection, which will be shown at Paris Fashion Week Men’s in January. According to WWD, that would be the official last show by Abloh as the designs were 95% complete by the time he died.
As for Pre-Fall 2022, the looks are all about the late creative’s “boyhood ideology,” which he developed throughout his tenure at LV. “What makes menswear? Boys do. I believe that building blocks stacked upon each other through our lives form the narrative of what defines menswear,” he wrote in the press notes. “My work today bears evidence of everything that happened to me in my past: how I was brought up, educated, and how I evolved.”
The collection begins with a muted gray palette contrasted with pops of blue and yellow. The fashion house’s Damier check is given the VA treatment in sky blue hues on a windbreaker jacket and shirt. The print is also spotted on tracksuits highlighted with stripes running down the sides. Further standouts include wrap skirts, as well as bold, oversized chains accessorizing loose-fitted trousers. The looks are complete with monogram loafers and Abloh’s skate-inspired sneakers.
