Disney+ Reaches 100 Million Subscribers in Less Than Two Years
With predictions to surpass Netflix in 2026.
Following the success of Disney+, the streaming platform has now officially surpassed 100 million subscribers in less than two years. Announced by Disney CEO Bob Chapek, the impressive achievement has also inspired the platform to continue adding more material to the site. “In fact, we set a target of 100+ new titles per year, and this includes Disney Animation, Disney Live Action, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic. Our direct-to-consumer business is the company’s top priority, and our robust pipeline of content will continue to fuel its growth,” said Chapek.
Disney+ has grown immensely since its launch in 2019, hitting nearly 95 million subscribers in February 2021. According to a recent report, the streaming platform is expected to surpass Netflix‘s number of subscribers by 2026, predicting 294 million Disney+ subscribers vs. 286 million Netflix subscribers.
