Nike Will Resell Returned Sneakers at a Discount
Introducing Nike Refurbished, a program that aims to reduce waste.
Nike has developed a new sustainable consumer program, Nike Refurbished, that will extend the lifespan of gently worn and flawed sneakers. Now available at multiple Nike stores in the U.S., the program will clean and refurbish returned footwear and resell the product at discounted prices.
Refurbished shoes will be given a condition grade and priced accordingly. They’ll even be covered by Nike’s 60-day return policy, an incentive for shoppers to participate in the circular program. Returned footwear that isn’t eligible for refurbishing will be donated or recycled via Nike Grind, the company’s recycling initiative that transforms post-consumer shoes into material including rubber, foam and textile blends.
