Formula 1 Makes History With First Female-Only Competition
The winning participant will be invited to take part in the upcoming Pro Exhibition.
Formula 1 has announced that it is set to launch the F1 Esports Series Women’s Wildcard, a female-only qualification route. With this, F1 teams will be able to scout talents to add to their rosters for this year’s Pro Championship, which commences this fall.
From May 3 to 9, female drivers will get to compete against each other on the official F1 2020 video game. The participant who records the fastest time will be invited to take part in the Pro Exhibition where she and the next generation of esports drivers will be tested for the “ten F1 Esports teams to assess and potentially choose for their Pro Championship rosters,” as per F1’s press release.
The Pro Exhibition show and the Women’s Wildcard qualifier will be available for the public to watch via F1’s official YouTube, Facebook, Twitch and Huya (China) channels on May 27.
