Herman Miller Brings Back Its Popular '70s Chiclet Sofa

The Ray Wilkes design, much coveted by vintage lovers, was discontinued in 1986.

Herman Miller is set to bring back its cult-loved Chiclet Sofa (also known as Wilkes Modular Sofa Group) introduced back in 1976. Created by Ray Wilkes, the furniture design has become highly coveted among vintage fanatics after it was discontinued in 1986.

For those unfamiliar, the postmodern silhouette has become an iconic design for being ahead of its time, using injection foam molding to create a minimal, uniform shape. In addition to its aesthetic look, the sofa comes with an optional table while offering comfortable sitting with its 105-degree back. The design arrives in various color options including the original bright solid looks, as well as luxe Maharam textiles.

Peep the sofa in the gallery above. Priced from $1,695 USD to $3,495 USD, the Chiclet is now available via Herman Miller’s web store.
