The Original 'Gossip Girl' Cast Will Have Cameos In the Reboot
Here’s what we know.
Set to finally premiere next week, HBO Max‘s Gossip Girl reboot will reportedly include cameos from the original cast.
In an interview with The Daily Beast, the show‘s creator Joshua Safran shared: “There are some cameos in Season 1 from people on the original show, but not the series’ regulars.” He continued: “The audience would never accept these characters if they were in the shadow of the original characters. They’re already in the shadow of the original characters, but if the original characters were there with them in some way, why would you want to briefly get to know Zoya if you suddenly can see Nate?”
Safran also explained that the reboot’s cast involves more actors than its forerunner’s. “Because the show is bigger, there isn’t enough screen time. If Blair showed up for two scenes, you’d say, ‘I want more Blair,’” Safran said. However, if the series gets the green light for Season 2, the cameos might be able to receive storylines as opposed to a few minutes on screen. “Hopefully we’ll get there and will reach out to the cast if that time comes and see if they’ll want to come,” Safran added.
