UPDATE (August 16, 2021): After denying all accusations, former EXO member Kris Wu is now formally arrested in Beijing, China on suspicion of rape. The prosecutor’s office shared in a brief statement that the arrest was approved, but didn’t provide additional details of specific charges.
Last month, Wu was detained following allegations of predatory behavior. A young woman had accused the actor of sexually assaulting her when she was 17 years old while she was drunk. “There was no ‘groupie sex’! There was no ‘underage’!” the singer initially responded.
After being accused of infidelity and predatory behavior, the Chinese-Canadian actor and singer was dropped by brands like Louis Vuitton, BVLGARI, Porsche, Lancôme and L’Oreal.
ORIGINAL STORY (August 2, 2021): After being accused of predatory behavior, actor and former EXO member Kris Wu has now been detained by the police in Beijing, China on suspicion of committing rape.
The 30-year-old has allegedly “trick[ed] young girls into having sex with him,” the police said in a statement. While “further investigation is pending,” Wu was accused by a 19-year-old individual of asking underage girls, including herself when she was 17, to engage in sexual activity with him while they were drunk. She commented that she was invited to a party at his home and was pressured to drink. Following the claim, 24 more women have called him out for inappropriate behavior.
As of now, Wu has denied raping unconscious girls and having sex with minors. “There was no ‘groupie sex’! There was no ‘underage’!” the actor shared on social media after the news broke. “If there were this kind of thing, please everyone relax, I would put myself in jail!” According to BBC, Wu’s lawyers are in the process of suing those who have made these claims against him.
