Co-branded tees, shirts, trench coats and more.
Supreme continues its Fall 2022 rollout, dropping a collaboration celebrating the English post-punk band Public Image Ltd (PiL).
The release comes shortly after the streetwear imprint’s New York Yankees collection with MLB and Nike Air Max 98 TL, in addition to its new Chicago store opening.
PiL, created by John Lydon of the Sex Pistols in 1978, was loved for its musical style combining rock, dance, folk, pop and dub. The group was led by the singer-songwriter from their debut album First Issue, followed by Metal Box in 1978, all the way through That What Is Not, the final album in 1992 before they went on a 17-year hiatus. After making a comeback in 2009, PiL continues with their longest lineup featuring Lydon, Lu Edmonds, Scott Firth and Bruce Smith.
Comprised of a trench coat, shirt, baseball top, swea shorts, two T-shirts and a five-panel hat, the latest Supreme launch celebrates PiL and their legacy. The trench coat, offered in beige and black, is highlighted with the band’s branding on the back along with text that reads, “THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT… THIS IS WHAT YOU GET,” referencing PiL’s 1984 album. Meanwhile, PiL’s logo is printed repeatedly on shirts as well as cozy sweat shorts. The collab is complete with PiL album artwork on a series of tees spotlighting the group’s 1983 live album Live in Tokyo.
