Instagram has added a few new features, the most notable one being Notes, which is like a modernized version of an away message on Instant Messenger from the early aughts.
To view Notes, you can simply visit your direct messages. The option to add a Note visible to your followers or close friends should pop up above your direct messages. Other users’ notes should pop up right next to it. Similarly to Instagram Stories, Notes are visible for 24 hours. However, as of now, there’s no way of knowing who has viewed your Note.
In addition to Notes, Instagram is testing out other features including Candid Stories (the concept is similar to BeReal) and Group Profiles, which offers exclusivity to close friends or groups of your choosing.
