Jacob Elordi Says He and Sydney Sweeney Are Like Bonnie and Clyde on 'Euphoria'
The actor treats the on-screen relationship like a “romance film.”
At the center of Euphoria’s whirlwind second season is the messy love triangle between Maddy Perez, Nate Jacobs and Cassie Howard. Australian actor Jacob Elordi, who plays the troubled Jacobs, is apparently team Nate and Cassie. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Elordi says he plays his character’s new relationship like a “romance film,” whereas Nate’s toxic entanglement with Maddy in the first season was more akin to a “drama.”
The 6-foot-5 actor sings fellow castmate Sydney Sweeney’s praises, as she plays his current love interest, gushing, “We became a bit of a Bonnie and Clyde. Every time I was in, I was in with her, and vice versa, and [Sweeney is] so, so good at what she does that it was just such a treat the entire time working with her. She brings it every single take, every single scene. And they’re always intense scenes with her as well, but we had so much fun. We got to play all kinds of different dynamics from that first meeting.”
While Eastland High’s resident bad boy may fantasize about white picket fences with Cassie, Elordi cautions that Nate’s view of love is awry, no doubt in part to his rocky family life, as The Kissing Booth actor attests that Nate enjoys having control over Cassie, continuing, “the whole time I think he has no f—ing idea what love is. He’s not loved by his mom. He’s not loved by his dad. He’s not loved by his peers. He has no concept of what real love is. So he’s just trying the best he can to understand it.
After last Sunday’s bombshell episode, there is no telling what is in store for the star-crossed lovers.
