Third Time's the Weave at Louise Trotter's Bottega Veneta SS27
The Italian house explores fluid silhouettes, airy cuts, floral motifs and drops a new rubber ballet flat.
Bottega Veneta presented its Spring/Summer 2027 runway collection at Milan Fashion Week, centering on relaxed proportions designed to move effortlessly against the skin. The showcase, attended by Jacob Elordi, Julianne Moore, Jorja Smith, Tyler, The Creator and walked by Kendall Jenner was staged in a stark white venue that embodied a feeling of lightness.
Bottega Veneta tapped artist Illya Goldman Gubin to design custom seating installations crafted from crushed cardboard. The collaborative arrangement features original paper structures reshaped by hand to mirror the brand’s signature woven leather textures. The folded, interlocking paper flaps directly reference the structural layout of traditional woven Intreccio leather bands. The physical motif extends to the event’s press materials. Plus, Goldman Gubin and various house staff members individually creased each paper poster invitation.
As for the garments, the range captures the shift from spring into summer through weightless textiles and unrestrictive garments. Precision tailoring undergoes a soft evolution, stripping back rigid structures to allow breathing room between the fabric and the wearer. The garments balance structure with ease, featuring blurred gender boundaries that let masculine and feminine sartorial cuts mingle.

As always, material craftsmanship highlights the physical work of the artisan, leaving raw, tactile details exposed across every piece. Featherlight leather takes center stage alongside the brand’s iconic Intrecciato weaving techniques, emphasizing fluid drape over stiff construction. The result focuses on reduced weight, airy silhouettes and exposed hand-stitched gestures throughout the line.
Elsewhere, bags arrived in voluminous proportions, some in a striking raffia, other in the brand’s signature supple leather. A standout was a burgundy handbag with soft butterflies stitched loosely throughout its exterior. For footwear, Trotter unveiled a new rubber ballet flat in multiple colors alongside tall white Intrecciato boots and loafers with large jewels.
