Nike, Yoox Net-a-Porter and More Show Support for Ukraine
Major retailers and brands have stopped shipping orders to Russia.
As Russian forces continue to attack cities like Kyiv and Kharkiv, major fashion companies are showing support for Ukraine, including Nike, adidas and the Yoox Net-a-Porter (YNAP) group. The move comes after protestors took the streets at Milan Fashion Week, urging brands to address the tragedy, while tech giants like Facebook, Google and Twitter have decided to limit ads in both Ukraine and Russia.
As reported by Business of Fashion, Nike and YNAP have stopped shipping orders to Russia to due logistical issues. Nike’s Russian website states that the brand “cannot currently guarantee delivery of goods to customers in Russia, directing customers to its offline stores instead. YNAP has released a similar statement, saying that it is no longer shipping to Russia. “Due to the current situation, we are unable to complete any new orders in your country. All order fulfillment has been suspended until further notice,” the site reads. As for Farfetch, the retailer has noted that “there may be problems with the delivery of orders and returns in Russia.” These announcements come after major delivery services like Fedex and UPS halted shipments to the country.
In media, Condé Nast has promised to donate to organizations such as the International Committee of the Red Cross to help those in need. The statement by the company’s chief executive Roger Lynch read: “We begin this week in a collective state of shock and horror as the invasion of Ukraine continues to unfold in frightening ways. Many of us have been left reeling from the news reports as the scale of the human toll has become clearer.”
While Paris Fashion Week continues, Nanushka revealed it would help provide Ukrainians fleeing to Budapest with food, clothing and shelter. Elsewhere, adidas shared that it would pause its partnership with the Russian Football Union, as associations like FIFA and UEFA have suspended Russian teams.
Consider donating to these nonprofits and organizations to help Ukrainian citizens during this time.
