Kim Kardashian's "Advice" for Women in Business Sparks Outrage
“Get your f-cking ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days.”
Kim Kardashian‘s recent advice for women in business has sparked outrage on Twitter, with users slamming the SKIMS founder for being “out of touch” due to her financial privilege.
In a recent interview with Variety, the Kardashians touched on their business ventures, to which the 41-year-old claimed she had the best advice for those looking to succeed in the field. “Get your f-cking ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days.” She continued: “You have to surround yourself with people that want to work. Have a good work environment where everyone loves what they do, because you have one life. No toxic work environments.”
The comment caused viewers to bring up her previous violation of labor laws, as explained in an article by Insider. Last year, Kardashian’s gardening and maintenance staff alleged they were mistreated, being denied overtime pay and meal breaks. The star’s representatives have countered these claims, stating that a third-party hiring company was responsible for the ordeal.
Jessica DeFino, who previously worked as an editor for Kardashian, posted a tweet detailing her experience with the SKIMS founder: “I was an editor on the Kardashian apps in 2015 in LA. [I] worked days, nights and weekends, could only afford groceries from the 99 Cents Only Store, [and] called out ‘sick’ more than once bc I couldn’t put gas in my car to get to the office.” She also mentioned that she was scolded for “freelancing on the side.”
