Dua Lipa Serves a '90s Moment at the 2022 Grammys With Iconic Versace Dress
The artist also recreates Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston’s 1998 twinning moment with Megan Thee Stallion.
The Future Nostalgia artist attended music’s biggest night in a Versace number, specifically a black leather dress from the label’s Fall 1992 collection. The iconic bondage silhouette was previously seen on the one and only Donatella Versace, as well as Cindy Crawford in the ’90s. Back in 2019, Kaia Gerber also wore the stunning design for her 18th birthday.
During the show, Lipa and Megan Thee Stallion presented Best New Artist with a twist. Recreating Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston’s twinning moment at the 1998 Video Music Awards, Lipa and Stallion also walked on stage with matching Versace fits. “Not you stealing my look,” the rapper told the English songstress. “Well I was told I had the exclusive. I’m going to have to have a talk with Donatella,” Lipa responded.
The Italian designer entered the skit and worked her magic. “You know what? Let’s do this,” Versace said as she removed the fabric off Lipa and Stallion’s outfits, revealing an entirely new look for each of the stars.
