Allow yourself to be transported to the Portuguese coastline.

MARQUES ‘ALMEIDA presented its Fall/Winter 2022 runway show through a digital experience that transported viewers to the Portuguese coastline.

With the sun-drenched horizon as its backdrop, models used the ocean as a catwalk to display the brand’s eclectic FW22 styles, rooted in a rebellious sensibility. Comprised of a vivid color palette of black, purple, pink and orange, the collection sees bold black stripes adorn floor-length dresses and patchwork prints take over draping fabrics. Juxtaposing the natural background, the collection boasts oversized peplum silhouettes, frayed denim details and garish prints.

“Our shows are always a celebration; our community comes together to be seen and to support each other. This season is particularly special as we welcome our family of M’AKER’S – five artisans and artists who created some of the spectacular pieces in the show. Alongside models and crew, we all come together in this breath-taking, natural setting to share an experience, make real connections, feel joyous, seen and to celebrate the work we have created together. If M’A's purpose serves nothing more than this, we are genuinely happy,” founders Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida share in a press release.

FW22 also demonstrates the brand’s commitment to sustainability, utilizing improved manufacturing and sourcing techniques and aiming to reduce its environmental impact. Incorporating elements of the brand’s M’AKERS project, which aims to empower local communities, the collection features a range of sculptural research pieces developed with Portuguese artisans. Evidenced in the patchworking techniques alongside the use of fish scales and limpets, the pieces subscribe to M’A's sustainable production manifesto, using recycled cottons and responsible water usage alongside deadstock materials and natural dyes.

The MARQUES ‘ALMEIDA FW22 pre-collection is now available to shop from the brand’s website.
