Demna Selected as Ambassador for UNITED24
Balenciaga’s creative director is determined to help Ukrainian refugees.
As fall nears and the war rages on in Ukraine, UNITED24, the official fundraising platform for the country’s urgent needs, has tapped Demna as an ambassador. Balenciaga’s inimitable creative director has long been vocal about Ukraine as the brand’s Winter 2022 show highlighted his own experience as a refugee.
“It is an honor for me to become an ambassador for the UNITED24 platform. I know and feel the pain that the Ukrainians are going through very well. I thought a lot about how I can help Ukraine and all the refugees who want to come back home. That’s why I chose to focus on the humanitarian Rebuild Ukraine Direction and its cause. The special Balenciaga T-shirt will become sort of a messenger,” the artistic visionary shared in response to President Zelensky’s gratitude.
The iconic Georgian designer’s role is dedicated to Rebuild Ukraine Direction, which focuses on aiding refugees and efficiently distributing donation funds. To further support this humanitarian venture, Demina created a one-of-a-kind T-shirt. 100% of the profits will be donated exclusively to Rebuild Ukraine Direction.
