Buffalo London Presents New Studio Art Foundation
Keeping the brand’s subversive spirit alive.
Buffalo London, founded in 1978, notoriously defined the ’90s pop culture scene with its anti-fashion and anti-establishment ethos. Famously worn by icons Spice Girls, Cher, and Madonna, its unique and over-the-top designs epitomized the decade’s style and continue to influence contemporary club fashion across the globe.
After recent collaborations with cult-following brands, 032C, Vivienne Westwood, Junya Watanabe, and Opening Ceremony, the latest venture for the famed shoe brand is Buffalo Studio Art Foundation, an initiative devoted to giving back to the community and supporting gifted esoteric American artists.
Each month, Buffalo Studio will team up with an artist that aligns with Buffalo London’s audience and mission of pushing creative boundaries in the industry. Following the brand’s subversive legacy, the selected creatives will contextualize, dissect, create and celebrate the shoes’ colorful and bold designs with their unique, artistic practice.
In collaboration with selected art and fashion media partners, the work will subsequently be auctioned off – with proceeds being donated to a charity of the artist’s choice. Raul de Nieves, known for his sculpture and performance work, was the first artist to be selected and created a one-of-a-kind sculpture made entirely from Buffalo London sneakers.
Stay tuned for the selected artists to be featured in Buffalo Studio Art Foundation in upcoming months.
