Taylor Swift's New Music Video for "Lavender Haze" Is Full of Romance and Easter Eggs
Featuring trans model Laith Ashley as her love interest.
Taylor Swift has dropped the highly anticipated music video for “Lavender Haze,” which shows off a creative and sultry side to the star.
The music video, which was written and directed by Swift herself, includes lots of romance and easter eggs, as expected. First off, the opening scene of the music video pans over Swift’s pedicure; her toenails are painted teal, which is a prominent color in her debut album. This could be her way of teasing a re-release of that LP soon.
In the video, a vinyl for “Mastermind” is shown, which could be her way of hinting that it could be the next single to get a music video. In the same shot, she seemingly pays tribute to her romance with boyfriend Joe Alwyn. Two constellations can be seen, which are for Pisces and Sagittarius — their respective signs. This shouldn’t come as a total surprise as she previously stated the song was inspired by him. “Like my relationship for six years, we’ve had to dodge weird rumors, tabloid stuff and we just ignore it,” she stated on social media back in October. “And so this song is sort of about the act of ignoring that stuff to protect the real stuff.”
One major easter egg fans noticed is the reappearance of koi fish in the music video. During the Speak Now tour, Swift played a guitar that had koi fish decals on it. This could be her way of hinting at the re-release of Speak Now being next, as she previously hinted at it in her “Bejeweled” music video.
