TikTok Has Unlocked the Keys To Cultivating the Perfect Gen Z Winged Liner Look
Leveling up your eyeliner game in a major way.
I’ll admit that doing the perfect winged eyeliner is challenging, especially for the solid millennial. However, Gen Z has repeatedly pointed out how to cultivate the coveted look with ease, and you know we listened this time.
TikTok influencer Megan Bowen is one of the Tiktokers pointing out the stark differences between those still stuck in makeup from 2016 and the crisp and sharp 2023 and beyond beauty enthusiasts. Bowne noted that the key to achieving the Gen Z winged liner look is all in where you draw it from. The beauty creator indicated that in 2016, she’d start with eyeliner on her lid and then bring a sharp angle up to the outer corner. Millennials depended heavily on eye shape to create a “dipped” effect or thick end. However, for 2023, Bowen draws the liner from her bottom lid as a starting point. From there, she sets the liner for an “out and away” diagonal line instead of the regular “up” motion. After establishing a liner outliner, she goes over the top of the eyelid. Keeping the wing sharp, sleek and tight.
For me, Bowne explained everything perfectly in the clip ahead. Hopefully, this tutorial helps all struggling Millennials alike with their eyeliner looks going forward.
