Museum of Sex and maude Showcase "Modern Sex"
Curated by ‘Fifty Shades’ Dakota Johnson and maude’s visionary founder Éva Goicochea.
Sexual wellness brand, maude, unveils its curatorial art exhibition debut with the Museum of Sex.
Aligning with the Museum of Sex expansion to Miami, maude celebrates “Modern Sex: 100 Years of Design and Decency.” Despite censorship, taboo and other conflicts that keep the world of sex under wraps, maude’s debut places the undeniable impact of the intimate wellness industry front and center.
Brought to life by co-creative director Dakota Johnson of Fifty Shades and the brand’s visionary founder, Éva Goicochea, “Modern Sex” explores “the cultural debates and societal impact of restriction on the design, marketing and distribution of sexual health products from the 1920s until today,” the exclusive press release stated.
Opening in January, the iconic collaboration is the Museum of Sex in Miami’s inaugural exhibition with “more than 500 components” that are “organized by decade” of its impact. From the 1950s “cure-all” vibrator to 2010’s “sex essentials.”
Co-creative director Dakota Johnson writes, “Advocating for gender parity and the visibility of this category has been a central part of my work. Seeing these stories shared in this way is so powerful, as it acknowledges sex education and the work of female trailblazers as a critical piece of our history.”
Aiming to reduce the stigma and normalize sexual wellness, the exhibit sponsored by maude will be open to public in January 2024.
