Dan Lam's Trippy Sculptures Move "Beyond Reality"
The otherwordly artist joins the Beyond Reality exhibit until August 13.
Artist Dan Lam‘s sculptures are on view at the Mc Nay Art Museum‘s “Beyond Reality” exhibition.
On view until August 13th, Lam’s otherwordly and technicolor sculptures meet their perfect match with the “Beyond Reality” exhibit. Featuring her largest sculpture to date, along with former works dating back to 2017, the show is a playful exploration of Lam’s inner world.
Using “unconventional materials” like polyurethane foam which she “often covers in spikes,” these sculptures produce a technicolor dream. Lam’s take on simple items such as wall and shelf pieces, is trippy and beyond anything, the static mind could envision. However, despite these sculptures exceeding what we deem visually possible, Lam revealed her simple inspiration: “nature and the human body.”
In the exclusive press release, Lam shares: “The McNay Art Museum is showing an array of my work from 2017 to the present, which includes wall pieces, shelf pieces, and free-standing sculptures. I’m so excited to be exhibiting with such a strong group of Texas artists.”
